Student Led Conferences parent presentation

This year we are including the students in the end of year interview with parents and teachers. Research indicates that  students demonstrate higher levels of motivation and self responsibility as learners when they are actively involved in reporting their progress. When given the opportunity to discuss their progress they become more reflective, critical and evaluative learners.

 

The approach is a natural extension of our belief in placing the child at the centre of the learning process and is a fundamental principle of the Walker Learning Approach.

 

In preparation for the student led conference with parents and the teacher, the students have identified areas for improvement in their learning and they have developed goals and strategies to achieve the improvements. The student led conference will enable students to share and discuss their progress towards achieving their learning goals.
