At Beaumaris Primary, maths sessions are aligned with the Victorian curriculum and are organised around the three content strands of number and algebra, measurement and geometry, and statistics and probability.

The staff work collaboratively to ensure our students are taught in a way that is meaningful by giving them hands-on learning opportunities to solve real-life, open-ended problems where possible. The Walker Learning Approach is a tool that aims to ensure we deliver a personalised learning approach that is differentiated to each student’s ability. This approach fosters the development of students who are self-motivated and confident mathematicians through the implementation of investigations as well as formal instruction. Numeracy skills and knowledge are explicitly taught so that students can efficiently and creatively apply their understanding and reasoning in a variety of situations.
