Our commitment to
child safety
Beaumaris Primary School is a child safe organisation which welcomes all children, young people and their families.
We are committed to providing environments where our students are safe and feel safe, where their participation is valued, their views respected, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. Our child safe policies, strategies and practices are inclusive of the needs of all children and students.
We have zero tolerance for child abuse and take proactive steps to identify and manage any risks of harm to students in our school environment.
We promote positive relationships between students and adults, and between students and their peers. These relationships are based on trust and respect.
We take proactive steps to identify and manage any risk of harm to students in our school environment. When child safety concerns are raised or identified, we treat these seriously and respond promptly and thoroughly.
Particular attention is given to the child safety needs of Aboriginal students, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, international students, students with disabilities, those unable to live at home, children and young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ+) and other students experiencing risk or vulnerability. Inappropriate or harmful behaviour targeting students based on these or other characteristics, such as racism or homophobia, are not tolerated at our school, and any instances identified will be addressed with appropriate consequences. Child safety is a shared responsibility. Every person involved in our school has an important role in promoting child safety and wellbeing and promptly raising any issues or concerns about a child’s safety.
We are committed to regularly reviewing our child safe practices, and seeking input from our students, families, staff, and volunteers to inform our ongoing strategies.
Welcome from
our Principal
David Tapp
School Principal
I am incredibly proud to be appointed the Principal of Beaumaris Primary School. I have very close connections to the area – I grew up in Beaumaris, as my Grandparents, parents and extended family all lived in Beaumaris, meaning many of my family members attended Beaumaris PS, as did I!
I still live locally, and I love to live and work in our community. I have taught and been an educational leader in a number of primary schools and love working with our teachers and young people to help them be the best they can be. I also have three children myself that attend local public schools. I am passionate about ensuring our school provides the best possible learning environment for all students.
Beaumaris Primary School has a focus on differentiated learning challenge, encompassing High Standards and High Expectations, ensuring our students are challenged and extended at every opportunity. Our partnership with families is highly valued as we know connected communities get the best academic and wellbeing outcomes for children.
We centre our relationships and environment around our core values; we have a shared understanding of effective learning and teaching and our school values of respect, resilience, responsibility and relationships underpin a culture of inclusivity, connectedness and sense of belonging within our school. We blend strong, everlasting traditions and beliefs with innovative and contemporary practice.
We understand the importance of early literacy and numeracy skills providing the foundations for all learning as well as contributing to one’s self-esteem. We take a research and evidence informed approach to ensure all students are given the best possible opportunity to grasp vital knowledge and skills in these areas.
Our Specialist programs encompass all interests; we proudly offer Physical Education, Sport, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Japanese and Environmental Science. Our Respectful Relationships program teaches important social and emotional wellbeing skills. We use the language of the Zones of Regulation to equip our students with the skills and understanding of how they can regulate themselves and recognise their emotions. Our wellbeing program provides our students with the skills for future success at school and in life.
Parents are invited to be actively involved in many facets of the school including Parent Club, Beaumaris Fathers Activity Club (BFAC), fundraising, parent helpers in the classroom, School Council, volunteer work in the canteen, gardens, school camps and excursions. The high level of parent support is a feature of our school and is greatly valued.
I welcome the opportunity to share our story and facilities via our tours. If you would like to organise a tour, please feel free to contact the office. I look forward to working with the wonderful Beaumaris community.
Our Facilities
We are committed to continuing to improve our school grounds and facilities. A number of updates are taking place this year, including two new playgrounds. Please find images of these, as well as our landscape masterplan, developed with Landscape Architects Pollen Studio, which demonstrate our vision for our school facilities over the coming years.

Our School Song
Moving on through the World
Composed by Andrew Jarrett
VERSE 1
Every day there are things that you learn,
Like when something’s in your way there’s a corner to turn,
But that corner is sometimes hard to find.
And although you think you’re in a bind,
In truth it’s only in your mind,
Take that first step or you’ll be left behind.
CHORUS
Moving on through the world is the only way,
When you wake up in the morning it’s another day,
Yesterday is gone and it’s a memory,
Tomorrow is unknown so take a step and see where it leads.
VERSE 2
Don’t be afraid to dream,
Things are not always what they seem,
Anything can happen, but it’s up to you.
If you think you’re just a name,
Well take the lead, ignore the fame
The most important thing to do is play the game.
CHORUS
Moving on through the world is the only way,
When you wake up in the morning it’s another day,
Yesterday is gone and it’s a memory,
Tomorrow is unknown so take a step and see where it leads,
And see where it leads, and see where it leads.
